My fears were building up inside me. I wanted to turn away, but that was not an option. I was screaming out “Stop. Stop!” but somehow nobody heard me.
I was on the platform about to be let off onto the flying fox. Waiting, waiting for my turn. I was getting impatient, part of me was saying “will this day ever come to an end?” but at the same time the other part of me was replying “stay up here as long as you like and then you will HAVE to go back the other way”. My mind was going from one voice to another like an innocent person in a battle between two sides of friends in war. I couldn’t make my mind up with which one to go with. Should I face my fears and just do it? Or should I be ‘honest’ and let loads of other people go before me? “Hey kid. It’s your turn”. That was the instructor. His name’s Johnny. “Okay...” I replied stammering. I looked down at the ground. When you are on the ropes it doesn’t seem that far down. But now it does!!! I looked at the seat. There was no seat! But, but how was I supposed to go down if there was no seat! Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. Johnny hooked me up and I saw how you went down. That didn’t mean that I wanted to go down. So, I was about to jump off a platform that was two or three stories up in the air. Held up off the ground by two ropes. Yes. Very encouraging. Very, very encouraging.
It was like jumping off the side of a cliff. Something that I never wanted to do. Well, here I go... Screaming as loud as I could, I zoomed through the air with the wind in my face. I opened my eyes, cautiously at first, then wide open! It was great. The adrenaline was amazing. My heart was beating faster than it had ever beaten before. Then I stopped the ride was over. Wow!! I can’t believe I was scared of such an exciting thing.
I’m going up for that again. The Flying Fox is so FUN!!!!
