Up so High

By Astrid

I started to climb up the ladder. My whole body was shivering so fast that it felt like jelly.
When I got up there my throat felt like there was a stick down it. I got onto the ropes, my legs were shaking it felt like my legs had dropped to the ground. At first I wasn’t scared but then I got to the top, I was so frightened.

I first couldn’t move but then my confidence started to get higher. Just when I thought I was fine I suddenly saw a tree I heard someone say I had to go around the tree,as I was leaning back my legs froze,I felt like I was going to fall. At last I got to the next set of ropes so I put my hands onto the ropes. Then I kept carrying onto the next tree.

When I got there I went around the tree once again and I wasn’t scared as I had done it before. I was nearly around the tree, my body started to shake I couldn’t move. The rope’s were really high this time I couldn’t even reach them that well, I could only reach by the tip of my fingers. I finally got to the finish, the guy told me to come up, so he could attach me onto the flying fox. Then he buckled me in and he said are you ready so I said no because it looks like I am going to fall then the ropes would brake. I went down anyway I started to scream.

When I got my feet back on the ground I said that was extraordinary.
I have learnt so much on camp but most of all I learnt to face my fears.
