By EmmaI took a shaky step and nerves rushed through me. I held on tight and looked down and I was frightened how high I was. These high wires seem so thin and the ground so far away.
I clung on for dear life as the people in front of me shook the wire as if it were an earthquake. I wibbled and wobbled like jelly but I was still able to keep my balance.
At last I made it to the end. I was eager to go down the flying fox but I had to wait for the “slow coaches” that were scared to go down.
The instructor suggested I sit down in my harness while I waited. I refused at first because I was scared I might fall, but I plucked up courage and sat down gripping onto the rope beside me. I realized it was quite fun swinging my legs in the air. Not scary at all.
Finally it was time to whiz down the flying fox. I was all attached ready to go. I shuffled to the edge and gave a good “push” I zoomed off so fast it felt as if I had left my heart at the top. As quick as a flash it was over. I jumped off and thought how exhilarating it was.
Walking over to my friends I thought back to what I had done. From taking those first steps on the high ropes when it seemed really scary. To now, that I had completed something new I feel more proud and confident in myself.
