High in Time

By Angelo

Putting the gear on nervously, then climbing up the wiggly ladder. I looked down and saw action figure like people down below me but I kept going up, I reached the the top. I didn’t dare to look down.

It was really scary. I put my cowtails on the wire, clipped it on and started walking on the skinny cable. The wire was really wobbly. I kept going and saw Dionte behind me, she was going fast. I started going really fast too so Dionte couldn’t catch up to me.

We are going to the next rope it was the chicken walk. It was hard because there was a gap in the middle when you fall you get a really painful wedgy! But I didnt fall I was so lucky .

We were heading to the last ropes when Dionte wiggled the cable. I told her to stop wiggling it in a mad face and she started laughing at me. I just ignored her and kept going. Step by step towards the flying fox. I lept off, I was going really fast. I thought I would hit the tree. I swung to the bottom with a smile on my face, it was really cool I said to my friend and it was the best day in our camp week

Bridge Fun

By Alisha.

“Everybody run the bus is here.”
It’s time for us to go for the D2P TRIP with some other students. When we reached there we saw diggers and other machines. Our guides were Hannah and Stacey. Hannah was the project manager for the D2P (the Boss). Stacey is the public relation minister.

Hannah told us that they are making a round about and they will lower the State Highway 6m near Petone. I also learnt that it is not an easy job to do and it also costs about seventy to eighty million dollars. They need about three hundred workers. We played in the mud and learnt that to make the bridge, they need a lot of materials and it will be finished hopefully in one and a half years which will be in 2010. The other thing that I learnt was when they built the bridge near Korokoro, they found a lot of dead bodies while they were digging and they are expecting to find more dead bodies.

Our Cool D2P Trip!

By Olivia

“This is fun!” said room 3. Room 3 went to the D2P construction site. Our instructors where Hannah and Stacey. Hannah is the project manger for D2P aka the boss! And Stacey is the public relation minster. We all had great fun by jumping in the mud, looking at diggers and walking in the rain. Hannah and Stacey showed as where the roundabout is going to be and what’s its going to look like. Also we found out it is going to a beam bridge. Also they told us that it going to cost $70-80 million. We all had to wear green hard hats and bright orange vests so that the builders could see us. now we now a lot more about bridges. And all glad that we went.

High Ropes

My heart was pounding. My turn to climb the ladder. It was hot and sticky. I took my first step towards the ladder. I looked down “I can’t do this!” I cried in my my head. I took my first step on the rope. I passed the first rope and I felt lucky to be small because I didn’t had to do the first bit. The rope was so thin ,I thought I’d fall off. The ropes were shaky so I walked slowly.

Time for the last rope then the flying fox. I walked slowly and Lavinia rushed to me. I was clipped to the rope and I was ready to zoom down the flying fox. The people on the ground were yelling at me to hurry up. Zoom I come and the boys raced with me. Finally I’m on the ground and my fear is over now. The high rope was fun and I would like to do it again.
